Shrek (2001)

An ogre named Shrek just wants to live peacefully in his swamp, but when fairytale creatures are dumped there by Lord Farquaad, he sets off on a quest to rescue Princess Fiona (to help Farquaad) and reclaim his land. Along the way, he befriends Donkey and discovers Fiona’s secret curse.

Shrek 2 (2004)

Shrek and Fiona visit Fiona’s parents in the kingdom of Far Far Away after their marriage. The Fairy Godmother, her son Prince Charming, and King Harold complicate things as Shrek struggles to fit in with royal life. Puss in Boots makes his debut.

Shrek the Third (2007)

With King Harold on his deathbed, Shrek is next in line for the throne. Not wanting to be king, he sets out with Donkey and Puss to find Fiona’s cousin, Arthur ("Artie"), as a rightful heir. Meanwhile, Prince Charming rallies villains to take over the kingdom.

Shrek Forever After (2010)

Feeling unappreciated in his family life, Shrek makes a deal with Rumpelstiltskin to live one day as a “real ogre” again. But he ends up trapped in an alternate timeline where he never met Fiona. He must undo the deal and rediscover the true value of his life.
